Beautifully recorded in late 2002 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in New York, “Three Guitars” is an indispensable summit meeting of three extraordinary masters of their craft: Larry Coryell,
Badi Assad – then a rising star on the Brazilian music scene – and John Abercrombie. Despite their differences in age, nationality, genre, gender, and musical background, the three musicians
immediately hit it off. Coryell described it as “a unique intersection of creativity”.
Coryell and Abercrombie, both pioneers of electric jazz fusion in the 1970s, play steel-string acoustic guitars, which contrast with Assad's classical nylon-string guitar. The versatile Brazilian also
contributed vocals and percussion sounds, which she creates with her mouth and body. Highlights of the album include Coryell's “No Flight Tonite,” Abercrombie's “Timeless,” and Assad's “After The Rain”.
Eagerly awaited by fans since 2005, Chesky Records finally presents “Three Guitars” once again – as a sonically brilliant hybrid SACD. A must-have, not only for fans of real guitar mastership!
We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" CD/DVD conditioner for even more sonic improvement.
