Barney Wilen's career began in 1957, the year he won the Django Reinhardt Award and recorded the soundtrack to the film "Ascenseur pour l'échafaud" with Miles Davis. This was followed by

the music for the films "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" with Thelonious Monk and Art Blakey and "Un témoin dans la ville" directed by Edouard Molinaro in 1959.The film entered the canon of French

film noir and starred Lino Ventura. The nocturnal chase through Paris is accompanied by Barney Wilen,Kenny Dorham, Duke Jordan, Paul Rovère and Kenny Clarke.
