On 28 August 1962, a historic meeting of two exceptional artists took place in Washington D.C.: Dave Brubeck and his band and Tony Bennett and his trio were invited to perform as part of the
'White House Seminar American Jazz Concerts' series. The Dave Brubeck Quartet was in great demand three years after their surprise hit 'Take Five', arguably one of the best known and most
successful jazz pieces of all time, and Brubeck was one of the leading figures in modern jazz.By the early 1960s, Bennett was at the height of his career, which continues to this day. His hit
'I Left My Heart In San Francisco' had been released a few weeks before his appearance in the American capital. After both had finished their sets, the real sensation of the latesummer day
followed: Brubeck and Bennett spontaneously decided to delight their audience with an improvised joint performance. Surprisingly, the recordings of this musical treat disappeared into the
archives and were even thought to be lost for a long time before being rediscovered by chance in 2012.
