The other side of Bob Dylan is the lesser-known romantic, absurdist and whimsical side of the musician, which has been largely absent from his previous intellectual releases.
With 'Another Side of Bob Dylan', he corrects his course and with it his image as spokesman for a rebellious generation and saviour of the people. Dylan turned his back on the
drama and produced an album full of mad whimsy, hallucinogenic prose, humorous perspectives and non-committal themes. The result is a richly varied LP that includes such
contemporary Dylan classics as 'All I Really Want to Do', 'Chimes of Freedom', 'My Back Pages', 'I Don't Believe You' and 'It Ain't Me Babe'.
Recorded at Columbia's Studio A on 9 June 1964, the recording captures Dylan's lightness of touch: the listener finds him laughing, relaxed and at ease. Fittingly, the sound is jumpy
and open, and doesn't sound at all like it was recorded on analogue tapes almost half a century old. The mono double LP was remastered for Mobile Fidelity by Krieg Wunderlich and
Shawn R. Britton.
