A nature lover, Beethoven wrote the Pastoral in 1807 and 1808, in parallel with his work on the 5th Symphony. In the Symphony No. 6, he processed his impressions as a city dweller in a rural environment and
imitated the sounds of nature with instrumental means. Both works were premiered in a four-hour concert conducted by Beethoven at the Theater an der Wien on 22 December 1808.
Bruno Walter's recording, first released in 1958, is one of the reference recordings of the work. His interpretation sounds like a piece of literature or poetry, perfectly integrated into the music. The early stereo recording
is flawless and has been a favourite of audiophiles for decades. Ryan Smith has remastered the hybrid SACD for Analogue Productions at Sterling Sound Studios.
We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
