The trumpeter and flugelhorn player Enrico Rava is probably one of the best-known Italian jazz musicians. In the 1970s and 1980s, he worked with Pat Metheny, Michel Petrucciani, John Abercrombie, Joe Henderson,
Richard Galliano, Miroslav Vitouš, Andrea Centazzo, Joe Lovano, Gil Evans and Cecil Taylor, and composed film scores – including for Bernardo Bertolucci. In 2002, Rava was awarded the Danish Jazzpar Prize. He also
received the French order “Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres” for his European contribution to contemporary jazz. Rava is accompanied by exquisite musicians on “Renaissance,” which was recorded in February 2002 at the
House Recording Studio in Rome, Italy: his long-time companion Stefano Bollani on piano, Rosario Bonaccorso on bass and Roberto Gatto on drums. R.J. DeLuke of All About Jazz writes about “Renaissance”: “Listen to Enrico
Rava play the trumpet. His playing is direct and confident. Controlled and cool, yet capable of soaring to great heights. His sound on the horn is mature, full, and rich. He can make bold and cheeky statements and at the same
time be as fragile as an eggshell. This has made him one of the best musicians in the world and an icon in his native Italy.”
Venus LPs are pressed only once. After the first edition is sold out, the titles are removed from the catalog. Collectors should therefore consider a purchase in time.
We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
