“Elixir” is the third album by smooth jazz supergroup Fourplay, consisting of pianist Bob James, guitarist Lee Ritenour, bassist Nathan East and drummer Harvey Mason. Their previous albums, “Fourplay” (1991)

and “Between The Sheets” (1995), both went gold: “Fourplay” sold over a million copies and remained at number 1 on Billboard magazine's “Contemporary Jazz List” for 33 weeks. “Between The Sheets” also

reached number 1 and was nominated for a Grammy. With “Elixir,” Fourplay managed to top that success: “Elixir” was released in 1995, climbed to No. 1 on the US jazz charts and remained there for more than

90 weeks! In the United States alone, “Elixir” sold over 500,000 copies and was certified gold by the RIAA.

The star-studded album features guest appearances by Phil Collins (“Why Can't It Wait Till Morning”) as well as Patti Austin and Peabo Bryson, who sang a fantastic duet on Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway's
