Tim Collins is absolutely no stranger to the music scene. The American percussionist and vibraphonist studied at Ithaca College under marimba luminary Gordon Stout. His career as a leader, sideman and studio musician has
already brought him together with greats such as Antonio Sanchez, John Ellis, Ben Monder, Joel Frahm, Donny McCaslin and many more. On his numerous tours in Europe, he repeatedly encountered a musician who is also
constantly on tour: Mulo Francel (tenor saxophone, bass and contrabass clarinet) from Quadro Nuevo – multiple winner of the ECHO and German Jazz Award. The two musicians, who have a reputation for being absolute masters
of their craft, arranged to meet for the popular "Jazz on Vinyl” series, which is now presenting its tenth release. "How Did We Get Here?" is nothing less but an amazing chamber music duo performance at the very highest level!
Swinging jazz, romantic ballads and adventurous improvisations on original compositions that also incorporate elements of neo-classical and minimal music – on "How Did We Get Here?" the two extravagant artists defy any
pigeonholing and celebrate an incredibly exciting and inspired come together. The immediate, organic sound that has established the reputation of all "Jazz on Vinyl" releases is in no way inferior to the artistic repertoire value
of "Vol. 10". The recording of "How Did We Get Here?" was co-produced with GLM Music. Sound engineer Dominique Klatte relied on his proven recipe: the high-quality microphone signals in the studio were left completely
natural and were not processed either in terms of frequency range or spatial imaging. The result: an extraordinarily direct, unadorned listening experience with spectacular living room acoustics.
"Jazz on Vinyl" is the project of the label owner Dominique Klatte. Since 2017, the dedicated sound engineer has been releasing jazz albums that have been produced in a purely analog manner – without any digital technology in
the signal path. Always on the lookout for the optimal analog sound experience and with a love of detail, Klatte produces recordings that impress with great vibrancy and make no compromises in terms of audio quality. He sometimes
even uses a parish hall, living room or the library in his hometown of Erding, near Munich, as a recording location.
