"A Love Supreme" from 1965 is not only Coltrane's best-selling studio album, it is also considered by audiophile critics to be the saxophonist legend's most important recording.
The thematic focus of the suite, which consists of four parts, is Coltrane's spiritual development, through which he freed himself from his drug addiction. His accompanists Elvin
Jones, McCoy Tyner and Jimmy Garrison were wonderfully attuned to Coltrane's contemplative mood, their interplay marked by exceptional quality and harmony. The recordings
were made with Rudy Van Gelder (who was also involved in this re-issue) in his Englewood Cliffs studio, which was revered as a near-sacred place for jazz musicians of the time.
Analogue Productions is pleased to finally release this masterpiece in UHQR format on Clarity vinyl, nestled in a high quality jewel box. The cut by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound
impresses with the transparency and clarity typical of his craft without background noise. The 12-page booklet also includes liner notes by respected music editor Ashley Kahn and
images from the Coltrane house. The 45 RPM double LP and is limited to 10,000 copies.
