From a sonic point of view, only a few recordings of singer and guitarist Sam "Lightnin" Hopkins are still reasonable for an audiophile listener today.

But on this acoustic session from June 4, 1963 with drummer Leonard Gaskin and double bassist Herbie Lovell, everything is just right.

The trio improvises in the best playing mood.
