Golden recordings of historical value were found by the team of The Lost Recordings in May 2022 in the archives of the Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB): Gaetano Donizetti's opera "Lucia Di Lammermoor"

with a magnificent cast consisting of Maria Callas, Guiseppe di Stefano and Rolando Panerai, conducted by Herbert von Karajan. Recorded September 29, 1955, at the Städtische Oper in Berlin, Callas shines as

a technically brilliant and imaginative Lucia, and one gets a vivid sense of what it must be like to see her live in the concert hall. She is accompanied by the RIAS Symphony Orchestra and the Coro del Teatro alla Scala, Milan.

Elaborately restored over several months, the recordings have a sound quality that surpasses previous releases and represents the most authentic rendition of this historic performance.

In 2023 Maria Callas would have turned 100; thus this special release sets a worthy memorial to her in the anniversary year.

Supported by the Callas Foundation, the set of 3 LPs is accompanied by a booklet of evocative images and text on 40 pages. The first edition is limited to 5000 copies.
