The Dave Brubeck Quartet - Time Out / 45RPM 2LP Analogue Productions

The Dave Brubeck Quartet recorded this album in 1959, and Columbia Records were initially less than enthusiastic. Brubeck had ventured away from the classical 3/4 and 4/4 time signatures and was actively trying out new things.

The result was enormously successful and, contrary to the opinion of critics at the time, not a betrayal of jazz. Or to put it bluntly: The album is really good, even though so many people like it.

The album also includes the famous "Take Five" by Paul Desmond.
