Leonard Bernstein's "West Side Story" was one of the first Broadway musicals with an obvious jazz influence. The story of rival street gangs inspired many musicians to record the music, including Oscar Peterson.
In 1962, he and his trio gave seven of the tracks from the film of the same name a light swing touch and recorded them on vinyl for the Verve label. Ray Brown on bass, Toots Thielemans on harmonica and Ed Thigpen
on piano and drums accompany him.
