Fans of high-quality download formats will already be familiar with the name “Yamina,” because at the end of 2013, sound wizard Jan-Eric Persson recorded four songs in true DSD128 resolution with the fantastic jazz singer.
This download EP was so successful that many fans asked for a full album. The decision was made quickly, and the result is “How Deep Is The Ocean” – a concept album based on the story “The Little Mermaid” by Danish author
Hans Christian Andersen, with music ranging from soft jazz to Latin jazz. Featuring songs from the American Songbook and various original compositions penned by Yamina herself, the album captivates listeners above all with its
live atmosphere: the sextet played together in a single take, without additional takes or overdubs! The album is the first release from Opus 3 Records, produced as an 8-channel recording in true DSD128 and, of course, mixed 100% analog,
meaning that it was never converted to PCM format in any way! "Jazz standards and original compositions: Swedish singer and pianist Yamina delivers a brilliant album. Great chamber jazz from an accomplished sextet and excellently recorded.
Good for exploring the sonic capabilities of components." (Klangtipp in Hörerlebnis 96)
The LP (180-gram vinyl, 33 RPM), which boasts outstanding sound quality, was pressed by Optimal Media. Andreas “Lupo” Lubich (Calyx Mastering, Berlin) is responsible for the lacquer disc cutting.

Opus 3 is an independent Swedish music label dedicated to recording timeless acoustic music such as jazz, blues, folk and classical. Founded in late 1976 by sound engineer Jan-Eric Persson, the label has made it its mission to reproduce voices
and instruments as naturally as possible. To achieve this, Opus 3 selects recording environments with good natural. The label's recording techniques were developed specifically for acoustic music and were originally based on the use of tube gear
and “Blumlein” miking. In 2001, Opus 3 switched to digital eight-track technology and later to 16 channels – in the brand-new mixing and mastering studio designed and set up by Sweden's leading acoustic engineer Lennart Nilsson to mark the
label's 30th anniversary. Apart from a few digital intermediate steps all processing is still done exclusively analog.
We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
