Archie Shepp Quartet - Deja Vu / 2LP Venus Records

In this 2001 collection of romantic French melodies, also known as "French Ballads" in Japan, Archie Shepp pays tribute to his adopted country, France, where he lived for several years.

Although this recording is very emotional, the avant-garde Shepp eschews "saccharine sentimentality" and brings excitement to his playing, which also includes lively pieces such as "L'Ame Des Poetes" and "April in Paris".

Venus LPs are pressed only once. After the first edition is sold out, the titles are removed from the catalog. Collectors should therefore consider a purchase in time.
