Producer Norman Granz was occasionally overwhelmed by the sheer number of his recording projects: on December 2, 1974, he recorded an entire album at Group IV Recording Studios in Hollywood,

Los Angeles, bringing together pianists Count Basie and Oscar Peterson in a rhythm quintet with Freddie Green (guitar), Ray Brown (bass) and Louie Bellson (drums). No one could have guessed at the

time that this unique combination would ultimately lead to a total of five albums. The first album, on which Basie also plays the organ, is one of the best! Peterson's virtuoso style went very well with Basie's

sparse playing. The ten tracks on “‘Satch’ And ‘Josh’” swing, swing, and swing...As part of the “Pablo Reissue Series,” Analogue Productions now honors this jazz gem with a sonically outstanding reissue,

lovingly mastered by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab. The LP, pressed on 180-gram vinyl by industry leader Quality Record Pressings (QRP) and cut at 33 RPM, comes in an tip-on pocket jacket by
