After Peter Gabriel left the band, the remaining members of Genesis were determined to continue. The departure of their legendary frontman weighed heavily: they viewed an incredible 400 (!)
audition tapes in their search for a new lead singer. But why look so far afield? Drummer Phil Collins finally took over the microphone and convinced the band that they could put an end to the
difficult search. Accompanied by producer David Hentschel, the band went to Trident Studios. Ultimately, it was the powerful interpretation of “Squonk” that paved the way for Collins to become
the undisputed new lead singer.
Surprisingly, “A Trick Of The Tail” fits seamlessly into Genesis' history of success. The album was a commercial success in the UK and the US and was also well received by critics. Today, this
milestone is considered to be on a par with Genesis classics such as “Dance On A Volcano” and “Squonk”. In four decades, Genesis has made an indelible impression on the music world, selling
an incredible 150 million albums.
For the “Atlantic 75 Series”, Analogue Productions is now releasing the definitive deluxe version of “A Trick Of The Tail”: a double LP, manufactured in 180-gram vinyl format by Quality Record Pressings,
cut at 45 RPM and featuring a tip-on old style gatefold double pocket jacket with textured stock by Stoughton Printing. This audiophile reissue pays tribute to a progressive rock classic that has inspired
artists from Elbow to the Flaming Lips and Jeff Buckley.
We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
