Stevie Nicks was already a superstar closely associated with several million-selling Fleetwood Mac albums – not to mention her own groundbreaking solo debut “Bella Donna” and the mega-successful follow-up

“The Wild Heart”. “Rock A Little”, the artist's third album, released in 1985 by Modern Records, further increased Nicks's profile and cemented her place as an important part of 1980s pop history. Although “Rock A Little”

has all the hallmarks of a typical mid-80s LP, Nicks and company spared no expense in giving the music an expansive sound characterized by lush melodies, high-tech percussion, echoing vocals, sampling keyboards

and multi-layered, sophisticated accents. “Rock A Little” reached the Top 20 and No. 12 on the US Billboard 200 just two weeks after its release. After another two weeks, the album was certified platinum by the Recording

Industry Association of America (RIAA) for selling more than 1,000,000 copies. In the UK, “Rock A Little” went gold. “Talk To Me,” “I Can't Wait” and “Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You?” were released as singles.

A fourth single, “Imperial Hotel,” was only released in Australia.

Recording for “Rock A Little” began in early 1984 in a converted church studio in Dallas. At the end of these month-long sessions, Nicks had completed about six tracks that she believed could be developed further. However,

Nicks rejected these recordings and parted ways with her longtime producer and partner Jimmy Iovine. At the end of 1984, she began working on the project again. After Iovine's departure, Keith Olsen, Rick Nowels and Nicks

herself took over production. Heartbreakers organist Benmont Tench, bassist Bob Glaub, Greg Phillinganes, session guitarists Waddy Watchel, Les Dudek, and Danny Kortchmar were invited to the sessions, along with about

two dozen other musicians. The recordings for this album are said to have cost around $1 million (according to Mick Fleetwood in his autobiography).

To mark its 40th anniversary, MFSL is presenting “Rock A Little” in audiophile reference quality for the first time: mastered at MoFi Studio in California, pressed at Fidelity Record Pressing, strictly limited to 4,000 numbered copies

and packaged in a luxurious gatefold sleeve by Stoughton Printing, the two 180-gram LPs (45 RPM) are bursting with color, texture and detail, setting new standards in terms of three-dimensionality, transparency, headroom and

dynamics.

We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
