Up-and-coming jazz artists Donald Byrd (trumpet) and Phil Woods (alto saxophone) were regular members of the George Wallington Quintet in 1956/57.
The bop pianist also plays on Jazz For The Carriage Trade with Art Taylor on drums and Teddy Kotick on bass. The recording dates from the time when
Wallington was responsible for the music programme at the New York club "Bohemia". In addition to the three standards "Our Delight", "Love Is Here To Stay"
and "What's New", the five also play two Woods songs ("Together We Wail" and "But George") and Frank Foster's "Foster Dulles".
