This recording of Herbert von Karajan with the Vienna Philharmonic was made for DECCA under the direction of producer John Culshaw and sound engineer Gordon Parry.

The recordings were made in Vienna's Sofiensaal from 29 September to 8 October 1961 and in September 1963, and were released in 1965.

The remastering was done by Masaya Touno at the Esoteric Mastering Centre.
