The fourth album Holly Coles from 1995 is entirely dedicated to Tom Waits songs. If you now think of a cheeky drunkard with a ragged voice, you haven't the faintest idea what to expect on this album.
The Holly Cole trio is supported here by drums and guitar (as on the live tours), and when then the "Invitiation to the Blues" is breathed into the microphone or the "Jersey Girl" walks almost lasciviously
across the stage, one suspects a bloodthirsty vampire in the studio with "Temptation", then one comes to the essence of the Tom Waits songs.
This album was produced in analog and for the remastering these tapes were available to enhance the already excellent sounding album before. If you want to have any idea at all why grown men can melt
at the singing of a jazz vocalist when a Diana Krall is as emotional as a refrigerator, this is the album for you.
Boxset with 4 LPs, 45 rpm.
