With "Filles de Kilimanjaro" Miles Davis jumps headlong into a new creative phase in which he mixes jazz and rock to fusion jazz. It is also the last album of the legendary second Miles Davis quintet, which was probably the

best collective of musicians he ever worked with. What makes this album so worth listening to is the fact that the musicians - including those who later accompanied him on "In A Silent Way" - are able to break with all expectations.

Instead, they created something completely new.The sessions for the recording took place in June 1968, with Wayne Shorter (saxophone), Herbie Hancock (electric piano), Ron Carter (bass) and Tony Williams (drums). At a second

session in September of that year, Chick Corea filled in for Hancock and Dave Holland for Carter. But even though the lineup changes, the album unfolds like a suite of one. Krieg Wunderlich remastered "Filles de Kilimanjaro," assisted

by Shawn R. Britton, for Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab. The album is released as a double 45 LP on 180g vinyl in limited edition with consecutive serial number.
