Jascha Heifetz plays the violin on these two recordings from 1961, made in England. It was him who decided on the unusual combination of the two compositions for violin.

Henri Vieuxtemps' Violin Concerto No. 5 is one of the more rarely performed works, and in the version with all three movements it is probably even more rarely recorded.

Bruch's better-known Scottish fantasies show the tendency of the time to fit enough material for an entire symphony into one concerto.
