Strictly speaking, the Prestige All Stars were not yet permanent fixtures in the jazz business, but they were an exquisite compilation of promising young talent.
On the 1956 album "All Night Long", under the relaxed leadership of guitarist Kenny Burrell, some of the best musicians on the New York scene were assembled
- including trumpeter Donald Byrd, tenor saxophonist Hank Mobley, flutist Jerome Richardson, pianist Mal Waldron and, in the rhythm section, Doug Watkins and
Arthur Taylor. The relaxed, swinging pulse of the LP and the high quality of the musical performance have long been the hallmark of every Burrel project.
