After recording three albums for the jazz-oriented Verve label, The Velvet Underground, led by frontman Lou Reed, achieved fame but low sales, the band signed with industry giants Atlantic Records in 1970.
Loaded is fun right from the start, with the three opening tracks 'Who Loves The Sun', 'Sweet Jane' and 'Rock & Roll' being hailed by critics as one of the best opening sequences on a rock album. Many fans
also treasure the album because it was the last to feature the original line-up; Lou Reed left the band shortly before its release, followed by guitarist Sterling Morrison and drummer Maureen Tucker in 1971.
Analogue Productions reissue this classic as part of Atlantic Records' 75th anniversary celebrations.
