Austrian violinist and violist Eduard Melkus dedicated his career to the study of historical performance practice. He founded several ensembles and in 1958 took a professorship in violin, baroque violin, viola,
and historical performance practice at the Vienna Conservatory. On this recording of Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber's Rosary Sonatas, written circa 1678, he is accompanied by Hans-Jürg Lange (baroque bassoon),
Gerald Sonneck (cello, viola da gamba), Huguette Dreyfus (harpsichord), Karl Scheit (lute), Lionel Rogg (organ) and Alfred Planyavsky (violin).
The remastering for this box of three 180-gram LPs was done by Rainer Maillard at Emil Berliner Studios. The 33-rpm pressing was done at Pallas in Diepholz.
We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
