The German pianist Elly Ney was internationally known for her interpretations of classical-romantic works from the 1920s until her death in 1968. Due to her enthusiasm for National Socialism,

the artist is still considered "Hitler's pianist" today. At the same time, her audience celebrated her as the greatest Beethoven interpreter of her time.These recordings of four of Beethoven's piano

sonatas were first released by Deutsche Grammophon in 1957. Ney's slow playing, the deliberate delays, the variations of almost hypnotic quality capture the listener more and more. The pianist's

playing was less technically perfect than stirringly soulful. Thus, this recording of four piano sonatas also presents passionate, never boring, atmospheric recordings of Beethoven's works.The

remastering of the analog tapes was done by Rainer Maillard at Emil Berliner Studios. The pressing on 180-gram vinyl was done at Pallas Group in Diepholz. Set with two LPs in different record covers.
