This LP was released on the RCA 'Shaded Dog' label in 1958. Reiner's legendary recording of the 1812 Overture, available only as a 1S pressing, was cancelled by live gunfire shortly after Mercury Living Presence released the same work.
The recording for this reissue is nothing short of breathtaking, featuring the incomparable brass section of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Mastered by Ryan K. Smith of Sterling Sound from the original 2-track 33 1/3 rpm master tapes,
laminated and pressed by Quality Record Pressings. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra performs under the baton of Fritz Reiner.
We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
