Their third album, 'Nursery Crime' (1971), saw Genesis move in a rockier, more aggressive direction, with new member Phil Collins bringing his drumming skills and distinctive voice to the band.
Peter Gabriel remained the lead singer, but with Collins the band's sound took on a new dimension. The establishment of the progressive rock sound laid the foundation for Genesis' future success.
The adventurous compositions, the mixture of folk, rock and classical music and the narrative lyrics, full of surreal and bizarre images, characterise the album as much as the complex guitar work of
Steve Hackett and the melodic bass lines of Mike Rutherford. A great work of music that adds another audiophile highlight to Analogue Productions' Atlantic75 series, mastered by Chris Bellmann.
We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
