Harold Farberman should have achieved star status long ago – if percussionists were idolized as much as pianists, guitarists, saxophonists and other virtuosos of their instruments. This recording features four classical works from the early Romantic,
Romantic and Baroque periods, which, from the perspective of the original compositions, could not be more different. Ten of the best percussionists from the most renowned American orchestras and the Royal Danish Orchestra come together under
Farberman's baton, playing between 60 and 80 different percussion instruments – per work! Produced by the legendary Andrew Kazdin, the recording creates a fascinating soundscape that is rarely heard even in concert halls.
Farberman studied percussion at the Juilliard School of Music and became the youngest member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra at the age of 20. Meanwhile, he took up composition studies, wrote his first pieces and later conducted orchestras such
as the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. His work includes three operas for percussion instruments, various works for orchestra and chamber ensembles, film music and compositions for dance companies. Today, he holds
a professorship at Bard College in New York.AudioNautes Recordings now presents the ultimate version of “Harold Farberman – The All Star Percussion Ensemble” – as an impressive OneStep pressing! The ANR reissue comes as a double LP on 200-gram vinyl
