Recorded in 1990 for the renowned New York label Chesky Records, “My Blue Heaven” was John Pizzarelli's first major album and heralded the arrival of a great talent and future Grammy winner.
Born in Paterson, New Jersey, in 1960, the guitarist and singer was supported on the recording sessions of “My Blue Heaven” by a veritable dream team of experienced jazz stars, including Pizzarelli's
guitarist and father Bucky, trumpeter Clark Terry, bassist Milt Hinton and drummer Connie Kay.
On “My Blue Heaven,” the virtuoso seven-string guitarist celebrates a wonderfully swinging selection of timeless jazz standards, with highlights including spirited reinterpretations of ‘Candy’ (Nat King Cole Trio),
“Passion Flower” (Duke Ellington) and “Can't Take You Nowhere” (Dave Frishberg). The immaculately produced album, which represents an important step in Pizzarelli's early musical career and helped him
reach a wider audience, has been further enhanced by this LP reissue from Chesky Records: For record lovers with particularly high audiophile standards, “My Blue Heaven” has now been pressed in the superior
One-Step process on 180-gram vinyl (33 RPM).
