If there was ever any doubt that Linda Ronstadt would become one of the greatest singers of the 1970s, it was finally dispelled with the release of “Prisoner In Disguise.” With this album, Ronstadt seamlessly

followed up “Heart Like A Wheel,” which brought her breakthrough in 1974. “Prisoner In Disguise,” the American singer's sixth release – and her second for Asylum Records – went platinum and established her

as the “First Lady of Rock” with “the voice of the decade”! “Prisoner In Disguise” is one of four consecutive Ronstadt albums to sell over a million copies, making her the first artist to achieve this feat. In her third

collaboration with producer Peter Asher, Linda Ronstadt draws on cover versions, roots music and emotional ballads, harmonising perfectly with a line-up that deserves to be in the Hall of Fame: James Taylor, Kenny

Edwards, Herb Pedersen, JD Souther, David Grisman and Russ Kunkel are just a few of the elite musicians who join her. David Campbell is responsible for the string arrangements and conducting.

Everyone is working toward one goal: to put Ronstadt's vocals front and center so that her wide vocal range and diverse intonation capabilities, from vibrato to falsetto, can shine through – an approach that laid the foundation

for top 5 hits such as “Love Is A Rose,” “Heat Wave” and “Tracks Of My Tears.” Apart from these chart-toppers, “Prisoner In Disguise” owes its timelessness to its more profound songs and Ronstadt's unreserved commitment

to pieces that seemed to have been written expressly for her: “Roll Um Easy” by Little Feat, “Hey Mister, That's Me Up On The Jukebox” by James Taylor, Dolly Parton's “I Will Always Love You,” in which Ronstadt exploits her

entire vocal range, and a tender duet with Emmylou Harris in “The Sweetest Gift” – arguably the most beautiful moment on the album. Every aspect of the record shows how and why Ronstadt “hit the ceiling” commercially and

why she received unprecedented recognition in media outlets such as Rolling Stone and Newsweek in 1975.

Lovingly remastered for the album's 50th anniversary at MoFi's California studio and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Fidelity Record Pressing in California, this numbered double LP (45 RPM) presents this classic album in

reference-quality sound: with improved definition, depth and spaciousness – even compared to Mobile Fidelity's long-out-of-print 33 RPM version. The 45 RPM version of “Prisoner In Disguise” showcases Peter Asher's

excellent work by lifting the last veil that had previously obscured the beautiful vocals and spectacular craftsmanship of the eleven songs. Befitting its status, the double LP from MoFi comes in a high-quality gatefold sleeve

from Stoughton Printing.

We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
