1968 saw the release of the last purely acoustic album by the second Miles Davis Quintet. "Nefertiti" is a quiet album of fine nuances, on which the musicians listen to each other beautifully,

but are still committed to the tradition of Hard Bob. Jazz connoisseurs call this album the last and necessary step Davis had to take before he could devote himself to fusion jazz. It features

Miles Davis on trumpet, Wayne Shorter on tenor sax, Herbie Hancock on piano, Ron Carter on bass and Tony Williams on drums.

The MFSL reissue generously spreads the album's six tracks over four sides of 180-gram vinyl, which should be played at 45 rpm. The analogue processing was done by Krieg Wunderlich

on the Gain2 system in Sebastopol, and you can hear the serenity of the music better than on any previous version.
