Nicky Parrott - Great 70's / 2LP Venus Records

The Australian musician and composer Nicki Parrott is an absolute all-rounder: initially trained in flute and piano, she later switched to the double bass and achieved mastery and great popularity on this instrument.

She performed for many years at the legendary Les Paul Sessions at the “Irdium” jazz club, as well as in several successful Broadway ensembles, and played together with the pianist Rachel Z and her sister Lisa Parrott.

On “Great 70's”, she interprets her favorite rock and pop songs from the seventies in a uniquely fresh and inspiring way. She is accompanied by John Di Martino (piano), Dave Blenkhorn (guitar) and Quentin Baxter (drums).

Venus Records was founded in 1992 by Tetsuo Hara, who had previously worked as a producer for RCA Victor. The label uses a mastering process called “Hyper Magnum Sound” – also for the strictly limited double LP of “Great 70’s”,

which is pressed on 180-gram vinyl and cut at 45 RPM. This special mastering produces a very powerful, present sound and is highly valued by audiophiles worldwide. A small note: Venus LPs are only pressed once. When the first

edition is out of print, the corresponding title is removed from the catalog and will no longer be produced. Collectors should therefore not wait too long to order: all releases of the “Venus Masterpiece Collection” are extremely popular!
