“Rob Agerbeek is a Dutch pianist who has worked with the Dutch Jazz Orchestra and American tenor saxophonist George Coleman. For this trio album for Venus Records, he got together with his regular band—bassist
Harry Emmery and drummer Ben Schroeder – on July 6 and 7, 2005, at Studio 44 in Monster, Holland. Agerbeek approaches the session as an all-rounder, devoting himself to standards as well as hard bop, bop, soul jazz
and Latin elements. His enthusiastic arrangement of Leon Russell's “This Masquerade” combines influences from Red Garland and Harold Mabern, while his dreamy interpretation of Django Reinhardt's “Nuages” comes across
as restrained and with a certain playfulness. Agerbeek's driving hard bop arrangement of Dizzy Gillespie's “Birks Works” features an outstanding solo by Emmery, while his interpretation of the trumpeter's “Tin Tin Deo” also sparkles
with energy. One of the best tracks, however, is his lively interpretation of pianist David Hazeltine's “Waltzing At Suite One,” in which Schroeder starts with brushes and then switches to sticks as the performance gains momentum.
Producer Tetsuo Hara obviously quickly recognized the potential in the experienced pianist's music..."

Venus LPs are pressed only once. After the first edition is sold out, the titles are removed from the catalog. Collectors should therefore consider a purchase in time.
We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
