The 1973 debut album "Can't Buy a Thrill" was an unexpected success for Steely Dan, the band of Donald Fagen and Walter Becker. After the departure of singer David Palmer,
Donald Fagen took over the vocal part and with the follow-up "Countdown To Ecstasy" the two continued to walk on rocky paths. But the loud guitars and concise backbeats of
"Bodhisattva," "Show Biz Kids" and "My Old School" disguise the fact that "Countdown To Ecstasy" is a musically more daring album than its predecessor. All eight tracks have
sophisticated, jazzy interludes and are full of musical and lyrical subtleties.
We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" CD/DVD conditioner for even more sonic improvement.
