Alma Micic, who has released six studio albums as a leader, is one of the most sought-after singers on the New York jazz scene. She is celebrated as a “first-rate jazz singer” (All About Jazz) with a “voice that

reaches the sun” (Jazz Wise). Alma was born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia. At the age of 20, she moved to the United States to study music on a scholarship at Berklee College of Music. From there, she continued

her career in the East Coast and New York jazz scenes, where she lives and frequently collaborates with her husband, renowned guitarist Rale Micic. This album, dedicated to legendary jazz singer Helen Merrill, who

shaped the era of modern jazz, was recorded with saxophonist Eric Alexander, Alexander Claffy (bass), Brandon McCune (piano), Jason Tiemann (drums), and her husband as session musicians, who provide the perfect

platform for her voice. The harmony between the acoustic guitar and her soft, swinging voice is particularly impressive.

“Lilac Wine: Tribute To Helen Merrill” was recorded at Van Gelder Studio in New Jersey, USA, on April 19, 2025 and was mixed and mastered by legendary sound engineer Tetsuo Hara.
