Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, pianist David Lynch studied music with James Moody, Charles Lloyd, Ralph Bowen and John Coltrane's partner Garvin Buschell. He attended the Dick Grove Music Workshops in L.A. and

began his professional career performing in numerous clubs, studios and with jazz big bands. David's insatiable hunger for new and creative forms of expression soon led him to Europe, where he came into contact with outstanding

musicians and artists from Greece and immediately felt a sense of simplicity and creative richness. This prompted him to settle there. By incorporating his individual style of expression into the Greek musical tradition, he developed a

unique musical language that has earned him a reputation as a musician of exceptional sensitivity and versatility. “Truths Be Told,” his fourth album as a bandleader, is impressive proof of this.

David Lynch has contributed to hundreds of albums and numerous film scores. He expresses himself stylistically with the bands he (co-)founded: Iskra, Living Space, The Missing Lynch, DuoFaros and Human Touch. He has also written

music for film, theater, radio, television and dance, and has played with greats such as Anthony Jackson, Trilok Gurtu, Milcho Leviev, Arturo Sandoval, Arild Anderson, Marcus Stockhausen, The Temptations, Barry White, Vassilis Soukas,

Maria Farantouri and many others. He is also an arranger and musical director for tours with Elly Paspala and ECM artist Eleni Karaindrou.

More than 15 years ago, “jazz from Greece” was still flying under the radar of experts. That is no longer the case: the Greek jazz scene is growing, thriving and truly blossoming. Just think of the great releases by Petros Klampanis or Melina Plaxinos.

The Hellenic Jazz Society record label began operations in June 2024 with the aim of producing high-fidelity albums from the local jazz scene. The steady rise of the Greek jazz scene has prompted HJS to promote talented Greek musicians at home

and abroad. All Hellenic Jazz Society albums are recorded and pressed to high quality standards – on 180-gram vinyl and with high-quality printed gatefold jackets. The double LP of “Truths Be Told” is strictly limited to 500 copies.
