This recording was released in 1958 on “Shaded Dog”, an RCA label. Reiner’s legendary 1812 was only available as a 1S pressing, having been deleted soon after the Mercury 1812 featuring live cannon shots was released.
The recording of this new edition is nothing short of mind-blowing and impresses with the incomparable brass section of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. In addition to Tchaikovsky's famous “1812 Overture,” this 1956 recording
also features various other works – essentially a “Best Of Fritz Reiner.”
The reissue of the “RCA Living Stereo Classical” series by Analogue Productions meets the highest audiophile standards: Bernie Grundman is responsible for remastering the original tapes. The double LP (45 RPM) includes a 2-page
booklet and was pressed on 180-gram vinyl by industry leader Quality Record Pressings (QRP) using Classic Records equipment. We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high
quality production will benefit from this.
