Hard bop saxophonist Jackie McLean makes his second appearance as bandleader for 1957's "Lights Out!". McLean's style here still clearly reveals the influence of Charlie Parker,
who had died only a year earlier. At the same time, he sometimes ventures out of the artistic security of imitation, experimenting with variations in tone. McLean moves on a solid blues
foundation in everything he plays, developing improvisations with trumpeter Donald Byrd. Elmo Hope on piano, Doug Watkins on bass and Art Taylor on drums complete the quintet.
We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
