For his second album, tenor saxophonist John Coltrane teamed up with fellow Prestige members Red Garland (piano). Together they led the quartet, augmented by Paul Chambers (bass) and Art Taylor (drums),
through a five track set. At the center of the 1958 recording is undoubtedly Coltrane, playing with equal measures of confidence and ease. But Chambers also shows off his full range of skills when, for example,
he takes Coltrane's complex compositions and mirrors them in "Bass Blues".The album was later renamed "Tranein' In" and featured a monochrome portrait of John Coltrane on the cover.
