Having written and produced countless classics for artists such as Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Otis Rush, Koko Taylor since the early 1950s, Willie Dixon was one of the studio mainstays of Chicago blues.
Time and again, however, he sought out the stage to play bass outside the recording room, perform live, and sing his own songs. When he released Willie's Blues, his first album as a leader, in 1959, he was
working with pianist Memphis Slim. The duo is accompanied by jazz players from New York, including tenor saxophonist Hal Ashby, guitarist Wally Richardson and drummer Gus Johnson.
Remastering of the analog tapes for Analogue Productions was handled by Kevin Gray at his Cohearent Audio Studios.
